Fundraising Toolkit

THANK YOU to our amazing riders, sponsors and volunteers who supported Gears for Good over the last six years! We are honored by your support of Gears for Good. The bike rides are all unique and truly something special!

As always,100% of individual donations for Gears for Good goes directly to our Helping Hands program to support families and patients in the bleeding disorders community with immediate financial needs like housing, utilities, transportation, and medically-necessary goods. Chronic conditions like hemophilia are very expensive and families often face financial difficulty due to medical bills and expensive treatment options.  We were able to help so many last year because of your support (see infographic) but there are still so many struggling daily with basic needs.

Riders often ask us, "Am I required to fundraise?"  Technically no, but we hope you will!  We encourage all participants to help support us by setting up a personal page when you register, and by encouraging friends and family to "sponsor" you on your ride.  For the New England ride we have a suggested fundraising goal of $750.  Plus, riders who meet the fundraising goal will be considered "champions" and will receive a special item. Fundraising can actually be fun, and we have provided ideas below to help you get started.

Now that you know how much your fundraising efforts help those in need, let’s give you all the tools you will need to be successful.

How to connect your donors to the cause:

A gift of $25 provides a medical ID bracelet or elbow or knee braces.

A gift of $50 provides protective gear or a gas card to get to medical visits.

A gift of $100 helps repair a wheelchair or pays an electric bill.

A gift of $500 or more pays rent or puts new tires on a car.

3 Simple Steps to Raise $100:

Step 1:  Start by donating $25 to your fundraising page. ($25)

Step 2:  Ask 1 family member for $25 each. ($25)

Step 3:  Ask 5 friends, Facebook firends, coworkers or neighbors for $10 each. ($50)

7 Easy Fundraising Steps to Help You Reach Your Goal:

Step 1:  After you register, customize your Gears for Good participant page with photos, your blog, and more.

Step 2:  Send out pre-formatted emails or ecards from your Gears for Good participant page to recruit donors.  1in 4 emails sent from an event participant results in a donation.  Send out those emails!

Step 3:  Use social media to share your Gears for Good participant page to help reach your goal.

Step 4:  Tell friends you are raising money to help people in need in the bleeding disorders community.

Step 5:  Just ask!  Almost half of people surveyed said they didn’t give simply because they weren’t asked.

Step 6:  Join a team and fundraise together.

Step 7:  Be sure to thank each donor personally and on social media.  We can never thank people enough for their generosity and support!

Additionally, if you have a fundraising idea you want to discuss with one of our development directors, please do not hesitate to contact us.  We would be happy to help you.  You can email us at and we will respond to you as soon as possible.
